Those who see beyond the veil

The
Imbued

Ordinary mortals, chosen to see beyond the veil. They cannot simply unsee what they have witnessed.

The Imbued

Those Who See Beyond the Veil.

Most people live their lives without ever questioning what lurks beyond the familiar. They go to work, raise families, pursue their ambitions and sleep soundly, unaware of the things that share their world. But for a rare few, that ignorance is shattered.

An ordinary moment becomes something extraordinary. A terrible encounter, an impossible revelation or an experience that cannot be explained changes everything. Suddenly, the world looks different. The monsters are no longer hidden, and the darkness has a face.

These are the Imbued.

They are not born into their calling, nor do they inherit it through blood. They are ordinary mortals who have been chosen to see beyond the veil, awakened to a reality that most people will never know exists.

They cannot simply unsee what they have witnessed.

The Second Sight

An Awakening Like No Other.

The Imbuing is not something one seeks out, studies or prepares for. It is an awakening that transforms the way a person perceives the world, revealing the supernatural horrors hiding amongst humanity.

Where others see a stranger, an Imbued might recognise something monstrous. Where others hear a rumour, they may glimpse a terrible truth. Their new awareness can be frightening, overwhelming and deeply isolating.

But the Second Sight is more than simply seeing. It is the beginning of a calling, and with it comes the potential to act.

The Imbued are granted extraordinary abilities known as Edges, powers that allow them to confront the supernatural in ways ordinary mortals cannot. Yet these gifts are not without their burdens, and understanding them is a journey in itself.

A calling of conviction

What Will You Stand For?

Not every Imbued sees the world in quite the same way. Their Creed reflects the convictions that guide them, shaping how they understand their awakening and what they believe must be done.

Some seek to protect the innocent. Others believe the supernatural must be exposed, understood or destroyed. Some are driven by vengeance, while others struggle simply to comprehend what has happened to them.

Your Creed is not a restriction on who your character can become. It is a starting point: a reflection of the beliefs, fears and ideals that shape their response to an impossible new reality.

The world is changing

And Some Are Beginning to Notice.

The Kindred are arriving in greater numbers, old boundaries are shifting and unfamiliar faces are gathering in places like Saint Denis. With their presence comes the potential for things to happen that ordinary people cannot easily explain.

The Imbued are beginning to emerge in Montana Falls, but there is no established society waiting to welcome them. They may be the first of their kind to cross paths, or they may spend considerable time believing themselves entirely alone.

They must find their own answers, decide who they can trust and determine what their newfound awareness means for the lives they once knew.

Some may become allies. Others may become enemies. Not everyone who sees the darkness will agree on what should be done about it.

The Hunter experience

Ordinary Mortals. Extraordinary Circumstances.

Playing an Imbued means exploring the experience of someone caught between two worlds: the familiar life they once knew and the frightening reality they've now discovered.

  • A Protector — Driven to defend the vulnerable and stand between innocent people and the things that prey upon them.
  • An Investigator — Following strange occurrences, unexplained disappearances and rumours that others dismiss.
  • A Crusader — Convinced that the supernatural is a threat that must be confronted, exposed or eradicated.
  • A Seeker — Searching for answers, trying to understand the nature of the supernatural and the reason behind your awakening.
  • A Survivor — Someone who stumbled into something terrible and is still trying to make sense of what happened.
  • A Reluctant Hunter — Someone who wants nothing more than to return to an ordinary life, but can no longer pretend the horrors they've witnessed do not exist.

These are only starting points. Your character may embrace their calling, resist it, misunderstand it or spend their time questioning whether they are losing their mind.

You are still human. You still have relationships, responsibilities, fears and a life beyond the supernatural. Your awakening does not erase everything you were before.

Your story begins with an awakening

The World Has Always Been Full of Monsters.

The Imbued are not an established organisation, and there is no predetermined path waiting for your character. Their relationships, beliefs and place in Montana Falls will develop through roleplay.

The supernatural may be older than humanity's understanding of it, but the Imbued are only beginning to find their footing.

The world has always been full of monsters. Now, some can finally see them.
