Immortality, intrigue, and the price of power

The Kindred

The night is young. Its future remains unwritten.

A new domain

Immortality, Intrigue, and the Price of Power.

They walk among the living, wearing familiar faces and hiding an altogether different nature. Kindred are vampires: immortal creatures sustained by blood, bound by ancient instincts and shaped by the centuries they have endured. They are capable of extraordinary influence and terrible cruelty, yet beneath their power lies an existence governed by hunger, secrecy and the constant struggle to retain their humanity.

Across Montana Falls, the Kindred are beginning to gather. Some have travelled from established domains, others have fled old troubles, and some simply see an opportunity in a land where nothing has yet been decided. Their arrival marks the beginning of something new.

There is no established Prince, no settled court and no local hierarchy to inherit. Whatever society emerges here will be built by those who choose to claim a place within it.

The night is young. Its future remains unwritten.

The Kindred

A Curse, an Inheritance, an Eternal Existence.

Kindred are not simply the dead returned to life. They are creatures transformed through the Embrace, a process in which a vampire drains a mortal of their blood and replaces it with their own, creating another of their kind.

The newly Embraced awakens to an existence fundamentally different from the one they knew. They no longer age, no longer live by the rhythms of the mortal world and must now sustain themselves through the consumption of blood.

Yet immortality is not freedom. Kindred are vulnerable to the sun, driven by an insatiable hunger and forever accompanied by the Beast: the predatory instinct that threatens to overwhelm reason, compassion and self-control.

Every Kindred must learn to navigate this existence, balancing their desires against the consequences of their actions. Some cling fiercely to the remnants of their humanity; others embrace the monster they have become.

The Camarilla

The Camarilla

Tradition, Hierarchy, and the Preservation of Order.

The Camarilla is a sect devoted to maintaining Kindred society through tradition, secrecy and carefully established authority. Its members believe that survival depends upon discipline, discretion and the preservation of the Masquerade.

The sect is structured around a hierarchy of titles and responsibilities, with Princes traditionally holding authority over individual domains. Beneath them, positions such as the Primogen, Sheriff, Harpies and others help maintain the order and customs of Kindred society.

But in Montana Falls, that structure is not yet established. The Camarilla is being brought together by Kindred who see the opportunity to create a domain of their own. Traditions must be upheld, authority must be earned and a society must be built from the ground up.

For some, this represents stability and protection. For others, it is an opportunity to gain influence, secure territory and shape the future of the Kindred.

The Independents

The Independents

Answering to No One but Themselves.

Not every Kindred wishes to belong to a sect. Independents operate outside the established structures of the Camarilla and Sabbat, choosing instead to pursue their own interests, loyalties and ambitions.

Some belong to Clans with their own traditions and internal structures; others simply prefer the freedom of remaining unaffiliated. They may form alliances, establish relationships with other Kindred or maintain their distance from sect politics entirely.

Independence does not necessarily mean isolation, nor does it guarantee neutrality. An Independent may be a valuable ally, a dangerous rival or someone whose loyalties are known only to themselves.

In a territory where Kindred society is still taking shape, those who refuse to choose a side may prove just as influential as those seeking to establish one.

The Sabbat

The Sabbat

Freedom Through the Rejection of Humanity.

The Sabbat is a sect that rejects the authority and traditions of the Camarilla, viewing its emphasis on secrecy and mortal-like behaviour as a form of submission. Its members embrace their vampiric nature and often regard the human world as something to be surpassed rather than preserved.

The sect is known for its brutal practices, fanatical loyalties and rejection of many conventions followed by other Kindred. Its members may organise into packs, bound by shared purpose, ritual and the Vinculum: a supernatural bond created through the consumption of one another's blood.

The Sabbat is not simply another political faction, nor is it a gathering of ordinary Kindred with different opinions. Its beliefs and practices represent a fundamentally different approach to unlife.

Whether Sabbat presence will take root in Montana Falls, and what form it might take, remains to be seen. Their arrival would bring a very different vision of Kindred existence into an already uncertain world.

The sects describe broad political traditions, not a single personality or destiny. A character's affiliations, beliefs, and place in Montana Falls depend on the setting and staff approval.

The Clans

Bloodlines That Shape the Damned.

Every Kindred belongs to a Clan, an inherited bloodline that influences their supernatural abilities, weaknesses, traditions and often their place within vampire society.

Some Clans are associated with beauty, artistry and social influence; others with scholarship, manipulation, monstrosity or martial strength. Each carries its own history and identity, though no Clan determines the entirety of an individual's personality or ambitions.

A Kindred's Clan is inherited through their sire, but what they make of that inheritance is their own choice. Two members of the same bloodline may have very different values, loyalties and approaches to their existence.

The Masquerade

The Greatest Secret Must Remain Hidden.

The Masquerade is the central tradition of the Camarilla: the concealment of Kindred existence from mortal society. It is the understanding that vampires must remain hidden, that their true nature must not become common knowledge and that the mortal world must be allowed to continue believing in its own familiar reality.

Exposure threatens far more than individual Kindred. It risks inviting fear, persecution and the attention of a world that vastly outnumbers them. The Masquerade therefore demands discretion, careful conduct and the suppression of evidence that might reveal the truth.

Although most Kindred understand the importance of remaining hidden, not all agree on how that secrecy should be maintained. The Camarilla treats it as a cornerstone of its society, while other Kindred may follow their own interpretations or reject the principle altogether.

In Montana Falls, where Kindred society is only beginning to establish itself, the responsibility of maintaining secrecy will fall upon those who choose to live among the mortal world.

The Night Awaits

A New Domain. An Unwritten Future.

The Kindred arriving in Montana Falls bring with them old rivalries, inherited traditions, personal ambitions and histories that stretch far beyond the frontier. But whatever they may have been elsewhere, none can assume that the same order will exist here.

The Camarilla must establish its authority. Independents must decide where their interests lie. The Sabbat, should it emerge, will bring its own convictions and ambitions. And between them all are individuals who must decide what sort of existence they wish to lead.

There are no guarantees of power, position or safety. Alliances will be formed, traditions will be tested and the shape of Kindred society will be determined by those who take part in it.

Immortality may be eternal. Your place in the Chronicle is yours to make.
